Terms of Service

Welcome to Snakke. These terms govern your use of the Snakke website and app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What Snakke is, and is not

Snakke is a self-study tool to help you learn Norwegian (Bokmål) and prepare for the Norskprøve, and to practise and improve your Norwegian more generally. Snakke is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to HK-dir, Kompetanse Norge, or the official Norwegian language test.

Snakke does not guarantee any exam result, score, level, or outcome. It is a practice and preparation aid. Your results depend on many factors outside our control, including your own effort. Nothing in the Service is a promise that you will pass the Norskprøve or reach any particular level.

Accounts

You need an account to use the app. Keep your login details secure and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement in your country (generally 16+ in Norway and the EU/EEA, or with the consent of a parent or guardian).

Free preview and Pro subscription

The free preview includes a limited amount of vocabulary practice, a limited number of grammar lessons, and a limited number of AI tutor messages. Reading, listening, writing, speaking and the mock exams require a Pro subscription.

Snakke Pro is offered at 249 NOK per month or 1790 NOK per year. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices may change with notice; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for. Where required by Norwegian and EU/EEA consumer law, you have a statutory right of withdrawal; note that by starting to use the digital Service immediately you may consent to begin before the withdrawal period ends.

AI features

The AI tutor, writing and speaking feedback, and other AI features are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not reflect official exam marking. They are study aids, not professional, legal, or educational advice, and should not be relied on as a definitive assessment of your level.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: no attempts to break, overload, scrape at scale, reverse engineer, or circumvent access controls or usage limits, and no unlawful, abusive, or infringing use.

Intellectual property

The Service, its content, design, and software are owned by Snakke or its licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the Service for your own learning.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Snakke is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any exam outcome. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer rights.

Changes and termination

We may update the Service and these terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above. We may suspend or end accounts that breach these terms. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law, without affecting mandatory consumer protections you may have where you live.
