Norskprøve B2 exam format: all four parts explained

The Norskprøve is made of reading, listening, writing and speaking, and each part is graded on its own. You can be awarded a different level for each skill, so the test reports where you are strong and where you are not.

Reading is multiple choice. You have around 75 minutes, you manage the time across tasks yourself, and you can go back to earlier questions. The texts and the answer options are entirely in Norwegian.

Listening is the part that changes most at B2: the audio is played only once, where at A1 to B1 you hear it twice. You should also expect some moderated dialects rather than only clean standard speech.

In writing you produce a coherent text on a given topic. You are rewarded for writing as much as you can while keeping it as correct as you can, which means structure, vocabulary range and grammatical control all count.

Speaking is taken together with another candidate. You still get an individual grade, but the examiner is watching how you answer questions and how you take part in a conversation, so interaction matters as much as pronunciation.
